Having Richard involved from the outset of this project was a significant advantage for both the client and the design team. The project comprised an extensive renovation of the existing house, including a ground floor rear extension, a complete replacement of the first floor, and a new roof. From the outset, Richard worked collaboratively with us, ensuring the client remained informed about budget implications throughout the design process. His practical knowledge and construction expertise meant that design decisions could be made with confidence, balancing the architectural vision with cost, buildability, and long-term value. As the property had previously been extended and the loft converted, Richard was able to expose sections of the existing structure during the Building Regulations stage, revealing the existing steelwork and foundations. This provided invaluable information for the structural engineer and enabled us to retain and adapt elements of the existing structure wherever possible, avoiding unnecessary work and reducing costs. By resolving potential issues before construction began, the project progressed with far fewer site queries and unexpected surprises.
